Our goal is to help families and individuals in crisis situations by applying biblically-based instructions addressing the problems currently present. We give all the glory and honor to God the Father, God the Son and to God the Holy Spirit who gives us comfort, wisdom and power to overcome the enemy of our joy. 

 

The director of the Center is an ordained Christian minister with over 35 years in ministry.  He is accredited by the  American Society of Christian Therapist as a Certified Pastoral Counselor. He is a born-again believer and was restored to newness of life in Christ Jesus in 1978.  He has the sweet love of Jesus down in his heart.

 

His masters degree is from Fla Atlantic Univ, School of Eduction with specialty in counseling.  His undergraduate degree is from Fla. State Univ. with emphasis in Psychology, Human Behavior and Social Work.  The Director has experience in private counseling practice, earned his teaching certificate and met the requriements as a Mental Healt Counselor, Board Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, and accreditation as a Parenting Instructor.  With the exception of Pastoral Counselor, all other certifications and licensures are inactive since his ordination and calling into Christian ministry.  His approach is biblically based.

 

His prior experience prior to being saved by the Lord, has been in the 'helping professions' working for over twenty years in settings such as Angola State Penitentiary, State Mental Hospital, Migrant Labor fields, Juvenile Justice system, K-12 instructor, university adjunct professor teaching various fields of psychology,. Mental Health counselor, Director of a Suicide Prevention and Telephone Counseling service underwritten by a Christian Board of Directors and manned by christian lay people trained by the Director. He served as the Director of Activities on the campus of the largest community college in the United States.  He has been in private practice and and was also the owner of a small business venture offering probate services to local attorneys.

 

Gleanings from the fields of learning theory, communication principles, and other fields of knowledge are applied in addressing issues.  The Director is well versed in these fields both by experience and formal education.

 

The LISTENING CENTER will not be of any assistance to persons wishing to discover strategies and processes outside of those answers which call upon the Word of God.  Unless a prospective client agrees to be instructed in the gospel of Jesus Christ prior to examining the current crisis in his or her life, services cannot be offered.  What is the use of solving a problem but not being given the opportunity to receive eternal life in Christ?  In short, the CENTER is not a clinic or a therapuetic office in the sense that it would have to receive licensing from the state or any other authority. The Center is an outreach of Grace Tabernacle Ministries (GTM) and is made available as a Christian Consultative Service without any charge for its initial consultations.  In short, the Listening Center is not a forum for 'patching up the flesh'. 

The focus of the Center is assisting Parents in the body of Christ to be effective with their pre-teen children.  As such our services are provided in-home, your work site, or convenient public places which offer privacy.
